As parishes and the faithful look ahead to Palm Sunday next weekend, the Diocese of Altoona-Johnstown continues to be aware of the need for social distancing and other necessary precautions.

Bishop Mark has directed parishes to not distribute blessed palm to the faithful on Palm Sunday because of the possibility of transmitting the coronavirus as a result of multiple individuals touching the palm.

The faithful are encouraged to watch the televised Mass with Bishop Mark on Palm Sunday at 11:00 a.m. on WATM ABC 23 or at 9:00 p.m. on Atlantic Broadband channel 9. The liturgy will be posted on the diocesan website and Facebook and Twitter social media platforms. The faithful may also listen to the Mass on the radio at 10:00 a.m. on WFBG AM 1290.

A Message of Hope- Fr. Mark Pattock, OFM Cap “In this time of social distancing, of hunkering down, take care to allow for a slowing down, to deeper prayer. Reinstitute the family recitation of the Rosary. The family that prays together stays together. Now is a privileged time to sink deeply into love, prayer, sacrifice, and mercy. Let your relationship deepen and know the tender love of God. Jesus in my heart, I believe in your tender love for me.”
